10 Free Things to do in Atlanta
Originally a little Native American village known as Standing Peachtree, Atlanta has grown to become the country’s third-largest city. From the infamous Burning of Atlanta during the Civil War — depicted in “Gone With the Wind” — to its hosting of the 1996 Summer Olympics, this Georgia gem is rich in history and entertainment diversity.
1. Piedmont Park
This park offers free guided walking tours to explore the history of the park.

2. Centennial Olympic Park
If you are interested in where the Atlanta Olympic Games took place this is a great place to visit. There is a free light display and ice skating in the winter.
3. Imagine It! Atlanta’s Children’s Museum
The museum has a wide variety of exhibits for anyone to enjoy, including some rotating exhibits depending on the time you are visiting.
4. Center For Puppetry Arts Museum
This museum offers unique exhibits featuring the evolution of puppetry. Some puppet shows maybe free as well but you will need to check first.
5. Martin Luther King Center
Here you can visit and tour the house of Martin Luther King Jr. It celebrates the lives of both Martin Luther King Jr and his wife Coretta Scott King.

6. Underground Atlanta
Here you can find underground shopping, dining, and entertainment. There is also a rich history associated with underground Atlanta you can explore.
7. Paper Museum
This museum has a documentation of the history of the creation of paper along with a large amount of different types of paper.
8. Fountain of the Rings
The fountain can be found in Centennial Park and offers free shows at 12:30, 3:30, 6:30, and 9 pm daily (may be closed due to weather conditions please check website before visiting).

9. Autrey Mill Nature Preserve and Heritage Center
This center has buildings from the 1800′s and a wide variety of exhibits including traditional Native American dwellings.
10. Art Walk
The first Thursday in each month is an art walk from 5-8 pm and includes the Museum of Design Atlanta, Paige Harvey, and George State University art centers.
