Dallas is home to sports teams and history, but all those attractions can come at a hefty price if you don’t know where to look for freebies. Check out this list for 20 free things to do in Dallas so you can enjoy this beautiful city without spending a fortune.
1. Dallas Arts District
Walk through this arts district that is the largest urban art district in the nation. It also boasts a broad array of different architecture.
2. Dallas City Hall
See this famous building created by M.I. Pei. The building is in the shape of an inverted wedge.
3. Fountain Place
This is a giant water fountain at the base of a completely reflective building. It is certainly a site to see if you enjoy fountains.

4. Dallas Public Art
The city has a large collection of public art on display. Since the art is spread out throughout the down you will need to pick up a map from the city tourism center.
5. Irving Arts Center
This center is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institute. There are different exhibits each day so make sure you call in advance to find out if you would be interested in the exhibit on display during your visit.
6. North Park
This part is comprised of 1.4 acres of sculpted garden. The garden also has many sculptures including a 48ft orange steel structure and a larger than life safety pin.
7. The Meadow Museum
This museum is on the SMU campus and has an extensive collection of Spanish artwork.

8. Trammell Crow Garden
This is a sculpture garden that has more than 20 different sculptures on display including some from Rodin.
9. Dallas Central Library
This library has more than just books for its visitors. While on your visit to Dallas stop by this Library to checkout an original copy of the Declaration of Independence.
10. Greenville Avenue
This is a main street in Dallas that has many different little stores to window shop and sometimes hosts some live entertainment.
11. First Thursday Films
This event takes place at the Nasher Sculpture Center the first Thursday of the Month during the summer. The movies are all time american classics.
12. Dallas Farmers Market
Stroll through the farmers market and see the great produce and goods created by locals.
13. Baylor University Medical Center
Visit this center and witness the display of over 100 bronze cast hands.
14. Farmers Branch Historic Park
This park is the home to historic building dating back to the 1840s.
15. Freedmen’s Cemetery
This cemetery is over 100 years and is the final resting place for many of the African Americans released from slavery before the civil war.
16. Hall of State Museum
If you are visiting on a Monday between 9 am and 5 pm or Sunday between 1 pm and 5 pm you will be able to visit this museum for free.
17. Thanks-Giving Square
This square is to honor all different nations, cultures, and religious traditions.
18. JFK Memorial
This memorial was designed by Philip Johnson to pay tribute to JFK. The memorial usually has flowers and notes throughout it from those who have come to pay tribute.

Stop by this location to checkout the United States largest display of model trains.
20. The Gallery of Sports Art
This is the largest museum dedicated to only sports art. This includes statues, photographs, and other artwork from all different sports.
