20 Free Things to do in Las Vegas

When in Las Vegas it can feel that you are supposed to spend money at every turn. With tons of different Casinos with attractions in all price ranges it can be difficult to navigate Sin City without breaking your planned budget. In order to curb some of those expensive outings we have compiled a list of 20 free and fun things to do while visiting.

1. Santa Fe and the Fat City Horns
This show takes place at the Palms Casino on Monday’s at 10:30pm.

2. The Hotel at Mandalay Bay’s MIX Lounge
From here you can view the strip, listen to usic, and relax on couches. The Lounge is free until 5 pm.

3. Pinball Hall of Fame
They offer a large collection of pinball machines from the invention in the 1950’s throughout history.

4. Water Fountains at the Bellagio Hotel
The fountains run Monday – Friday on the half hour from 3-8 pm and every fifteen minutes from 8pm until midnight.

5. Ethel M. Chocolate Factory
Tours run from 8:30am until 7pm. The tour is free and includes a complementary chocolate tasting.

6. MGM Grand Hotel’s Lion Habitat
This attraction is open from 11am until 10 pm daily.

7. Wildlife Habitat at the Flamingo Hotel
Watch all the animals throughout the day. If you can make it at 8:30am or 6 pm you will be able to see the penguin feeding.

8. Volcano at the Mirage Hotel
Beginning at 7 pm and on every proceeding hour watch the volcano erupt spraying 100 feet high.

9. Sirens of TI
Watch a battle between pirates and the sirens who are trying to entice them to die. This show is at 7 pm, 8:30 pm, 10 pm, and 11:30 pm daily.

10. Silverton Saltwater Aquarium at Silverton Casino
Come to admire over 4,000 tropical fish at this aquarium which is free of charge and open 24 hours a day.

11. Thunderstorm at Planet Hollywood
Visit the shopping mall attached to Planet Hollywood and experience an indoor thunderstorm. This attraction may be scary for children who are afraid of storms. The storms take place on the hour Monday through Thursday and on the half hour Friday through Sunday.

12. Circus Acts at Circus Circus
This is a great way to enjoy the aerialists, jugglers, trapeze artists, and clowns for fun without the hefty costs usually associated with attending the circus. The shows are 10 minutes long and occur on the half hour from 11 am until midnight.

13. Masquerade Village Show in the Sky at the Rio Hotel
This show features floats and dancers in costumes. The show is approximately 20 minutes in length and is offered on the hour starting at 7 pm Thursday through Sunday.

14. Sunset Stampede at Sam’s Town Hotel
Visit this hotel to enjoy a full show including lights, water, and sounds. The show lasts about 8 minutes and occurs daily at 2, 6, 8, and 10 pm.

15.  CBS Television City at the MGM Grand
If you are into TV shows this is a great way to participate in the development of the story lines of shows. you will get to watch and provide feedback on the show you watch.

16. Fountain Festival
This festival is daily from 10 am to 10 pm every night.

17. Fremont Street Light Show
The light show is off the strip and combines sights and sounds to entertain you. The show is every hour from 9pm until midnight.

18. Marjorie Barrick Museum
This is a great museum focusing on environmental studies. It is free to the public to visit and is on the University of Las Vegas Campus.

19. Anderson Dairy
If your interested in dairy farms this is a great stop. You will be able to go on a tour that gives an inside look into the process of how milk is created and reaches the grocery store shelves.

20. 27 Foot Tall Chocolate Fountain
Stare in awe at this giant fountain of chocolate located in the Bellagio Casino.  It is open to visit from 7 am until 11 pm daily.
